In Florida, I imagined I discovered
A panther on my porch
Singing sideways, close, and low
Making fun of, the way you love the moonlight
The way you love the fire
Don’t make right these works of God
We lie slowly and watch TV

And though I care
And there love lies
Consider this good
Consider this right

In Florida, awoke and we were troubled
Afraid they were not there
Don’t fade out, those lights so low
In Florida, our sentinel the panther
Fled what was not fair
